The Stan Turner Show

Stan Turner is a 35 year veteran of Twin Cities Broadcasting. It has been said of Stan that while others may collect antiques or baseball cards, he collects characters. Stan’s career has led him to some of the Twin Cities most famous (and infamous) characters. The Stan Turner Show is a stage for characters and stories seldom hear elsewhere.

Here are just a few of the recent quests and topics on the Stan Turner Show:

Harried Gourmet Vienette Olson of Trade Winds Spice Company discussing Chilly Chilly Chile Chili recipies for Fall.  Click Here for Vienette's Chili recipies.   Meet the Harried Gourmet

Don Riley, formerly of the St. Paul Pioneer Press and author of Gallivan’s Gang, and Tim Gallivan of Gallivan’s, came on the show to reminisce about Gallivan’s Bar, the historic St. Paul watering hole.

Stew Thornly stopped by to discuss his latest book, A Graveyard Guide to Minnesota.
Bryan Burrough, author of Public Enemies, and Paul Maccabee, author of John Dillinger Slept Here, dropped in to discuss the notorious gangsters who made St. Paul home in the 1930’s.
Larry Millett, author of Strange Days and Dangerous Nights was in studio to discuss the era of speed graphics photography.
Catherine Watson, recently retired travel writer for the Star Tribune was in to discuss her travel experiences and to read some of her favorite stories.
In addition to these guests, Stan has had regular contributions from:
U of MN historian and political commentator Hy Berman.
Pioneer Press travel writer Beth Gauper.
Retired Pioneer Press columnist Don Boxmeyer.

When you want to meet the characters that make the Twin Cities so special, tune into the Stan Turner Show, 8 to 10 AM, Saturdays on AM-1220 WMGT.

WMGT listeners can also hear Stan as News Director and Afternoon Anchor for the Minnesota News Network (MNN). MNN newscasts are heard on 70 affiliate stations across Minnesota.
